Location

After years of working in tattoo shops with owners that focused only on output and production-line styled tattooing, we decided it was time for a change. Instead of arguing the importance of ART with landlords and shop owners, and as an artist refusing to pressure clients into picking a design from the wall, we are able to focus on the personal and careful custom tattoo art that clients deserve. The unique and intimate private tattooing that we offer is a reaction to your regular “pick em’ and stick em’ tattoo studio. The location is merely just a vehicle to be able to offer you a better and more personal experience. Instead of owners trying to push a tattoo that you might not be ready for just to make rent on a space that is designed for a much larger type of business, we are able to focus on the individual and their unique tattoo experience instead of how many tattoos we can do in a day because of our location. Look past the trees to see the forest, or in this case the artwork.
  

Apprenticeships and Piercing

Brainwave Tattoo is not offering apprenticeship now or any time in the near future.

Also, we do not offer any piercing services at Brainwave Tattoo.
  

Minors

Brainwave Tattoo does NOT tattoo anyone under the age of 18, with or without parental consent. In our experience it causes more problems than it alleviates and if you are serious about your tattoo work, we encourage you to take that time to concentrate on your tattoo idea.
  

Shop Hours and Scheduling

Brainwave Tattoo is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, 1-8pm by appointment only. Call 941-961-3374 to talk to us, or stop by during business hours to set up a consultation or appointment as needed.
  

Consultations

While we do offer walk-in services occasionally if finished early, or if available that particular day, you will need a consultation before getting tattooed for larger scale and/or more detailed work.

The reason we do this is to get a better feel of where you want the tattoo, what you are getting tattooed and why you are getting your tattoo. Some things can be worked out online for out of town clients, but the more personal attention we can give your idea, the better we can execute the design.
  

Deposits and Minimum

All tattoo appointments and drawings that require an appointment also require a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold your place in the schedule. Although you also can pay for your tattoo in full at that time as well for one sitting pieces. Deposits come off the LAST sitting of any tattoo, and hold your appointments for the duration of tattoos requiring multiple sittings. The deposit is not always for drawing time as many of our projects are drawn on the skin but also for gathering reference, supply preparation and to hold your spot in our scheduling. To reschedule an appointment you must give 24 hours notice or you will forfeit your deposit. For larger tattoos I usually only book a few days to a week in advance and can occasionally squeeze you in sooner.

Also, the shop minimum is $80. No matter how small or simple the design, this is the absolute minimum shop charge for a tattoo. This price covers the supplies we use that go above and beyond the standard required, the one of a kind custom art experience, ALL single use tools, the highest quality, brightest, organic, plastic free and vegan safe inks, and all the years of expertise and award winning quality of our work.
  

Hourly Rate and Booking

Brainwave Tattoo charges $150 an hour for custom work OR will give you a flat price if that’s what the design calls for. HOWEVER, any individual sitting where a client gets 3 or more hours at a time gets them a special rate of $120 an hour for that sitting. The majority of the pieces on my site are 1-2 hours unless they are done over multiple sittings.
  

Tipping

While tipping is NOT required, it IS appreciated!

We don’t live off tips, so there is no established rule of thumb like a waiter or bartender. Just tip how much you feel your artist deserves based on the service you have received.
